”VIRUS yang menjangkiti masyarakat sekarang adalah virus enterpreneur”, tegas Ciputra mengawali seminar yang dihadiri sekitar 100 peserta yang sebagian besar mahasiswa. Di usianya yang hampir menginjak 80 tahun, Pak Ci masih tampak sehat. Pada seminar yang diadakan Pusat Pembinaan Karir dan Kewirausahaan (PPKK) Unair itu, Ciputra dan Antonius menyampaikan materi dari kantornya di Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, Jakarta, dan diikuti peserta di Aula Garuda Mukti, Rektorat Unair, Surabaya melalui teleconference.
Selanjutnya, Pak Ci mengatakan, selama ini mahasiswa telah didoktrin bahwa untuk memperoleh pekerjaan harus dengan pendidikan tinggi. Ironisnya, lanjut Pak Ci, tiga dari sepuluh tukang ojek di Jakarta adalah sarjana. ”Jadi, buat apa sekolah tingi-tinggi ?” ujarnya yang disambut tepuk tangan peserta. Karena itu, Pak Ci bertekad ingin mengubah pola pikir mahasiswa. Dari pencari kerja menjadi pencipta lapangan kerja.
Menurut Ciputra, entrepreneur bukanlah keturunan. Entrepreneur hanya lahir dari kalangan entrepreneur. “Misalnya, dia berasal dari keluarga dengan latar belakang entrepreneur atau dia biasa bergaul dengan kalangan entrepreneur,” ujarnya. Bagaimana jika tidak tinggal di lingkungan entrepreneur ? Pak Ci mengatakan itu bisa diasah dengan mengikuti pelatihan entrepreneur.
Seorang enterprenenur harus memiliki modal semangat, perasaan sangat ingin yang kuat, dan percaya diri. Semangat dan percaya diri dapat mengembangkan kreativitas. Kemudian, kembangkan gagasan dan ajak partner yang memiliki modal. ”Seorang enterprenenur gagal sepuluh kali tapi bangkit sebelas kali!”, kata Pak Ci penuh semangat. Kata-kata ini spontan disambut lagi tepuk tangan peserta.
Ide untuk menjadi seorang pengusaha bisa berasal dari mana saja. Dengan membaca koran, jalan-jalan di mal, atau pun dengan perjalanan dari tempat tinggal menuju kampus akan memperoleh ide untuk menjadi pengusaha. “Sampah dan kotoran bisa berubah menjadi emas,” tegas Pak Ci.
Kemudian Pak Ci menceritakan, awal upaya dia mendirikan Taman Impian Jaya Ancol dan Perumahan Citraland di Surabaya. Taman Impian Jaya Ancol yang sangat terkenal itu awalnya adalah tempat pembuangan sampah. Sementara Perumahan Citraland di wilayah Surabaya Barat itu awalnya adalah tanah tandus dan tak berpenghuni. “Siapa sangka wilayah itu kini berubah menjadi perumahan, area bermain air, dan area bermain golf paling ramai dikunjungi,” ujarnya.
Ciputra berharap, suatu saat Indonesia bisa menjadi negara dengan rakyat yang suka mencipta bukan lagi pengikut. Pak Ci mencontohkan mengenai jejaring sosial di internet, facebook. Saat ini, masyarakat Indonesia adalah pengguna facebook. Namun, suatu saat diharapkan masyarakat Indonesia dapat menjadi pencipta. “Menjadi seorang pengusaha harus mampu menjual produknya. Selain itu, juga harus yakin kalau sanggup menjadi pengusaha,” katanya.
Pak Ci kemudian mencontohkan sukses seorang pengusaha terkenal di Surabaya. Dahlan Iskan, bos Jawa Pos Group. “Awalnya dia hanya memiliki satu perusahaan koran, namun saat ini telah membawahi ratusan perusahaan koran,” ujarnya.
Untuk menjadi seorang entrepreneur, Pak Ci menyarankan supaya banyak membaca buku tentang entrepreneur.”Kenali tokoh-tokohnya, bagaimana mereka jatuh bangun membangun usaha” katanya. Pak Ci juga menyarankan supaya banyak bergaul dengan orang-orang yang memiliki jiwa entrepreneur. ”Dari mereka kita dapat belajar mengenai dunia bisnis.”
Pertanyaan menggelitik datang dari seorang mahasiswa bernama Farid. ”Kalau setelah lulus tidak dapat kerja, terpaksa jadi entrepreneur. Padahal entrepreneur kan nggak boleh terpaksa. Gimana pak ?”, tanyanya.
Menjawab pertanyaan itu, Pak Ci mengatakan, ”Menjadi entrepreneur nggak boleh terpaksa. Kalau terpaksa nggak akan semangat. Misalnya Anda nggak mau kuliah, tapi dipaksa kuliah, pasti nggak akan semangat kan” katanya. Sebelum memulai usaha, Pak Ci menyarankan, tetapkan tujuan usaha apa yang ingin dijalankan. “Entrepreneur bisa dijodohkan dengan apa saja. Usaha apapun bisa dijalankan,” ujar pengusaha yang berjuluk Begawan Properti Indonesia itu.
Antonius yang mendampingi Pak Ci menambahkan, sebelum memulai usaha perlu melihat 3E yaitu Ekonomis, Ekpresi Diri, dan Empati Sesama. “Ekonomis berarti untuk kesejahteraan, ekpresi diri berarti carilah usaha yang sesuai dengan talenta diri, dan empati adalah melihat keadaan masyarakat. Dalam membuka usaha jangan sampai merugikan masyarakat,” jelasnya.
Sebelum menutup seminar, Pak Ci menyampaikan harapannya agar diadakan hari khusus entrepreneur di Universitas Airlangga. ” Salam enterpreneur”, katanya sambil mengangkat jari tangannya membentuk huruf E.
